The labrum is a crescent shaped piece of cartilage attached to the rim of the hip joint providing stability. The labrum can become detached, frayed, torn, or degenerated due to acute injury or repetitive activity.

Patients with labral tears usually have pain deep in the groin or the front of the hip. Sometimes you may feel the hip "gives out," gets worse while sitting or walking, and may even "click."
