This painful lower back condition can occur from the acute strain of lifting a heavy object or as a slowly evolving condition over time. Herniated disc symptoms include deep lower back pain, sharp pain in the buttocks, hamstring pain, and/or leg pain.

You may have difficulty changing positions or sitting comfortably for more than a few minutes at a time.

Lumbar disc herniations include bulging discs, lumbar disc stenosis, and lumbar disc herniations with nerve root compression.

 

Our Approach

Because low back pain may result from either compression of the nerve or of the disc itself, decompression of the intervertebral joint complex is imperative to improve proper healing.

Long-term studies have shown that conservative, non-invasive therapies can be more effective than back surgery.

Following a detailed history and examination we will determine if imaging is needed (X-ray, MRI, CT scan) and then recommend a custom treatment plan.

Chiropractic Biophysics (CBP) Technique, Pettibon System, 3-D Mirror Image Adjusting, and soft tissue therapies such as Active Release Technique, Transverse Cross Friction Massage, Fascial Manipulation, or Trigger Point Therapy may be used.

We will evaluate various components of your day and make necessary corrections to your workstation, sleep habits, and exercise routines. We always take into account the patient’s unique condition and severity of pain, and will referral you to pain management or neurosurgical expert if necessary.
