Golfer’s Elbowor medial epicondylitis is a condition that involves the flexor muscles of the elbow. These muscles attach to the inside of the elbow and the humerus.
Like Tennis Elbow, Golf Elbow frequently occurs in those people in Lakewood who do not actually participate in the sport.
This injury can be due to a traumatic event, though it is more commonly considered an overuse injury. Elbow pain and forearm pain, soreness, arm weakness, and swelling are all common with this condition. Many times Golfer’s Elbow occurs when adults over train in the gym using heavy weights and don’t allow their body proper rest. In children, Golfer’s Elbow can be caused by repetitive activities such as pitching, golf, tennis, and squash.
Our Approach
When treating Golfer’s Elbow we identify the exact mechanism of your injury and all predisposing factors. Is your elbow pain due to overuse or trauma?
Many times typical therapies such as ultrasound, ice, muscle stimulation, and exercise can help reduce the pain. Integrating manual therapies will improve soft tissue function of the affected tissues.
We use advanced therapies including Chiropractic Biophysics, Pettibon Technique, Fascial Manipulation, and trigger point therapy at our office in Lakewood. Rehabilitation exercises and stretches will be given to improve any imbalances and stretch tightened structures for people in Lakewood.
