Overuse Shoulder Injuries

KP_Overuse_Shoulder_Injuries.png

Overuse shoulder injuries are common in active adults. Repetitive activities, particularly when poor biomechanics are present, place tremendous stress on the structures of the shoulder. People of all ages can develop shoulder pain and shoulder injuries from overuse. Adolescents who are involved in year round sports such as baseball, tennis, or swimming are also vulnerable. Many times overtraining in childhood places too much strain on young musculoskeletal systems.

Adult patients often develop shoulder injury from training too hard and not getting enough rest for the body to fully recover. Shoulder pain, soreness, shoulder weakness, and swelling are all common and many patients are diagnosed with shoulder tendonitis and shoulder bursitis as a result from overuse. Activities such as baseball, swimming, tennis, and weight training can all lead to overuse shoulder injuries. Call 720-493-5885.
